Service Description
South Coast Jewellers provides expert valuation and buying services for jewellery, precious metals, luxury watches, gemstones, antiques, and collectibles. Our services include:
- Home-visit valuations: We visit your home at an agreed time to assess your items. Home visits are free of charge and carry no obligation to sell.
- Postal valuations: We provide insured packaging for you to send items to us for assessment. We cover all postage and insurance costs.
- Valuation roadshows: We hold public valuation events at venues across the South Coast, where you can bring items for free assessment.
- Purchasing: If you accept our offer following a valuation, we purchase your items and arrange same-day payment.
Valuations
All valuations provided by South Coast Jewellers are based on our professional expertise and current market conditions at the time of assessment. Valuations are:
- Free of charge for all assessment methods (home visit, postal, and roadshow)
- Non-binding -- you are under no obligation to accept any offer
- Valid for 7 days from the date of assessment, unless otherwise stated
- Confidential -- we do not share valuation details with third parties
While we take great care to provide accurate and fair valuations, they represent our professional opinion and may differ from valuations provided by other professionals. Our valuations are for the purpose of making a purchase offer and are not formal insurance or probate valuations.
Payment Terms
When you accept our offer to purchase your items:
- Payment method: We offer payment by bank transfer or cheque. You may choose your preferred method at the time of sale.
- Same-day payment: For home visits, payment is processed on the same day you accept our offer. Bank transfers typically arrive within 2 hours. Cheques are issued on the spot.
- Postal valuations: Payment is processed within 24 hours of you accepting our offer via phone or email.
- No fees or deductions: The price quoted in our offer is the full amount you receive. We do not charge any fees, commissions, or handling costs.
All payments are made in pounds sterling (GBP).
Cancellation and Cooling Off
You have the right to change your mind under the following circumstances:
- Before acceptance: You may decline our offer at any time before accepting, at no cost and with no obligation.
- After acceptance (home visit): For items sold during a home visit, you have a 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. During this period, you may cancel the transaction by contacting us. You must return any payment received and make the items available for collection.
- After acceptance (postal): For postal transactions, the 14-day cooling-off period begins from the day after you confirm acceptance of our offer.

This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
- Indirect losses: We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special losses arising from the use of our services.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
